Lecrae Moore is a Christian rap artist signed to Reach Records. Lecrae resides in Atlanta, Georgia hosting hip-hop related events, volunteering at the local juvenile detention center, and engaging with ReachLife Ministries. Also, as a member of the 116 Clique, Lecrae ministers at various campus and community venues. Lecrae has received two nominations at the 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards. One was for his song, "Jesus Muzik", which also featured Trip Lee; and the other nomination was for his second album, After the Music Stops. He has recently been nominated for Hip Hop/Rap Recorded Album of the Year by the 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards. He has received reviews from various magazines including Rapzilla, which specifically noted his style and his second album, After the Music Stops, has been called, "one of the best CDs I have heard in 2006. Lecrae's flows are clever but straight to the point and his delivery is very clear."[6] He has been compared to Dirty South MC Ludacris. Lecrae has inspired New York Producer and New Jersey Rapper Covenant and Chase Glory. The 2 have formed Street Runners Records, which is an off shoot. Soon to Launch early of 2010. It features an allstar line up with Spirit Filled Hits and Praise tracks. Including Release of Rochester, NY rapper Belk Boi. Street Runners Mixtape Set to Launch Worldwide January 2010, Featuring Chase Glory, Covenant, Belk Boi, and Gleem, as well as guest appearance by Lecrae.
In his music, Lecrae uses the word "Crunk" to refer to a spiritual high felt through Christ. On October 8, 2008, Lecrae's third album, Rebel, entered the Billboard charts at #60 with 9,800 units sold. It also ranked #3 on the iTunes rap downloads, and topped the Billboard Christian album charts for two weeks, the first rap album to do so.
